Young Workers Hostel CHAILLOT-GALLIERA - Accommodations - 28 Avenue George V 75008 PARIS
Since its foundation, the hostel has welcomed more than 3,000 girls coming from all social, geographic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
Review
  • In 1877, the Duchess of Galliéra bequeathed to the Cure of St Pierre of Chaillot, a piece of land located in the present “George V Avenue” and put the priest in charge of founding and maintaining a “christian workshop for young ladies” as well as a charitable youth organization.

  • In 1973, his grace Robert Piéplu built on the site a property named “Centre Chaillot-Galliéra” including a hostel for young female workers in place of the “christian workshop” and a medical school for children with difficulties, from 8 to 12 years old.

Staff

The hostel Chaillot-Galliéra association is run by a board of directors composed of volunteers elected by the General Assembly of the members and is managed by a pluridisciplinary crew charged with the social care, the management and the maintenance of the facilities.

  • Under the coordination of the manager, the staff is composed of the social and educational action coordinator, the Employment, Health care and Housing Departments as well as the Collective and Cultural Activities organizer.

  • At the front desk, a secretary will give you information concerning the constitution of government aid for housing (Aide Personnalisée au Logement).

  • The accounts and administrative departments insure a rigorous management of the hostel.

  • A night watchman, who lives in an appartment in the 6th floor is in charge of the maintenance of the offices.
